The Program targets high risk pregnancies but all pregnant women may enter the program. ( All pregnant and breastfeeding women including mothers up to six months – 1 year after the birth of the baby). Fathers are also welcome.
The risk factors include adverse social, economic and physical circumstances that contribute to developmental delays including low birth weight, social, health and emotional problems, injury and disability.
Priority is given to specific target groups:
- pregnant women living in poverty
- women who are isolated and have poor accesss to services
- pregnant teens
- pregnant women who abuse alcohol, drugs, tobacco and other substances
- pregnant women living in violent situations
